New for 2021, this compact clematis is ideal for pots, but it could also be used to meander throught the front of a mixed border. Its yellow-eyed flowers appear repeatedly from midsummer to well into autumn, and initially the tepals tend to be violet-blue in colour. As the summer heat intensifies, so does their colouring, and it starts to produce flowers, which initially are a deeper shade of purple, but take on a bluish tone as they age.
- Garden care: In early spring cut back the previous year’s stems to a pair of strong buds about 15-20cm (6-8in) above ground level and apply a slow-release balanced fertiliser and a mulch of well-rotted garden compost around the plant, avoiding the immediate crown.
- Humans: Skin irritant; Pets: Harmful if eaten
