- Position: full sun or partial shade
- Soil: fertile, well-drained, neutral soil
- Rate of growth: average
- Flowering period: April to May, often again in June and July
- Hardiness: fully hardy
Slender, green-flushed buds open in mid-spring to nodding, white, bell-shaped flowers, which have long petal-like sepals that are lightly freckled with lilac. After the first flowers have faded it is not unusual to see a second flush appear soon after – this time producing double flowers. Long lasting silky seedheads adds to the appeal of ‘Broughton Bride’.
- Garden care: No routine pruning is necessary. If the spread of the plant needs to be restricted prune immediately after flowering, cutting back overlong shoots to healthy buds. Apply a slow-release balanced fertiliser and a mulch of well-rotted garden compost around the base of the plant in early spring.
