A highly popular and deservedly praised mid-season dessert cherry with a firm, sweet flesh. The bright red fruit is resistant to cracking and is best enjoyed fresh from the tree though it can also be used for cooking and liqueur-making if you have a bountiful harvest. The fruits are medium-sized, with a sweet and full flavour, and smaller-than-average stones surrounded by plenty of cherry flesh. A great choice for cooler areas, ‘Van’ produces its delicious fruits ready for eating around the third week of July.
Pollination Information: Not self-fertile, this cherry requires another variety of cherry nearby. Ideally this should come from the same pollination group 3, however it is possible to use one from group 2 or 4 as well.
